HowTo.. Log on automatically to Windows XP using PowerToys

This note describes how to find a unsupported Microsoft utility for Windows that allows you to bypass the initial logon dialog box.

The Microsoft Windows Shell Development Team has put together a set of productivity tools called PowerToys. If you're a Windows power-user, go ahead and try them out, but realise these are unsupported tools. Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys.

With the Tweak UI update, you can adjust your Windows User Interface, including menu speed, window animation, and bypass the initial logon dialog box.

How to

Simply download the free programme available from the address given below, and follow the instructions.

Hint: We found that you needed to provide a password for automatic logon to work consistently (ie a User Name that didn't require a password was unreliable).

Hint: Make sure you have adequate user rights for the changes you want to perform.
